Color This 2.0 adds two new ways to find something fun to color: parents can turn an idea into a personal coloring page with Apple Image Playground, and children can explore a new Orchard world filled with fruit.
Imagine a picture with Apple Image Playground
The new Imagine a picture button lives in My Pictures beside the existing photo import. After the parent gate, a parent can describe an idea — perhaps a dinosaur in a tutu — and hand it to Apple Image Playground. The confirmed result becomes a personal coloring template with the same pencils, brushes, watercolor, chalk, glitter, eraser, coloring aid and automatic saving as the included pictures.
The app does not run its own image-generation server and does not keep the written description. Only a picture that a parent confirms is saved in My Pictures. Depending on the selected Image Playground style, online services and external providers may be involved, and their permissions, availability and generation limits still apply.
What devices can create pictures?
Picture creation requires iOS or iPadOS 27 or later, an Apple Intelligence-compatible device, Apple Intelligence enabled and Image Playground available. On iPhone, that means iPhone 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max, or an iPhone 16 model or later. On iPad, it requires an iPad with M1 or later, or iPad mini with A17 Pro. Availability can also depend on language, region and provider access.
Color This itself still supports iPhone and iPad from iOS 17. On older or unsupported hardware, the rest of the coloring app continues to work; only the Image Playground feature is unavailable.
A new Orchard world
The Orchard is the thirteenth illustrated world in Color This. It brings together 20 separate fruit pictures across eight varieties: apples, pears, peaches, plums, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries.
Each fruit keeps its own coloring progress, while every finished picture appears back in the shared orchard scene. The fruit hang from branches or grow among the matching plants instead of floating as isolated menu items, so the world gradually becomes a colorful orchard shaped by the child using it.
Free to try, with one-time unlocks
One sample picture in every world remains free. The first successfully saved personal template is also free, shared between photo imports and Image Playground pictures. Families who want to create more personal templates can use the same separate one-time unlock; there are no subscriptions. The Orchard is available separately and is also included in the all-world pack.
Version 2.0 also refreshes picture placement and coloring space across several existing worlds, with improvements to photo import, previews and erasing.
